The community, formerly called
Talbert, was renamed Fountain Valley in 1957 for its many artesian wells. Fountain Valley,Orange County, southwestern California, on the Santa Ana River, near the Pacific Ocean and Los Angeles; incorporated as a city 1957. It is primarily residential and has manufacturing industries producing furniture, electronic equipment, and recreational vehicles. A junior college is here. Fountain Valley at one time was mostly a big swamp. The abundance of wild game, which roamed the entire area due to the lush growth and plentiful water, made the area a sportsman's paradise. Itinerant preachers found it a good place for tent revival meetings, and the area came to be nicknamed Gospel Swamp...
